The Melbourne Prize Trust, promoting urban sculpture, literature and music, will provide benefits to artists in each sector and demonstrate the value we place our abundant creative resources. The Trust aims to recognise and reward excellence and talent, inspire creative development and enrich public life.
The Trust is a not-for-profit organisation and will achieve its objectives by running the annual Melbourne Prize. The annual Melbourne Prize aims to be both easily accessible to artists and engage with the public through a public exhibition of finalists at Federation Square Melbourne.
The award categories offered as part of each annual Melbourne Prize will provide professional development, exhibition, international travel and financial reward.
The annual Melbourne Prize cycle:
Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2005
Melbourne Prize for Literature 2006
Melbourne Prize for Music 2007
Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2008 – three-year cycle commences
